All Roads Lead to Melbourne - Review of the Sydney Track Classic (Women)
We have taken a detailed look at the performances from the men competing at the Sydney Track Classic, now it's time to look at the women's performances. There were many highlights on both the track and field, and a lot to look forward to when the athletes hit the Lakeside Stadium track in Melbourne next week for the Olympic Trials - which also includes the IAAF Melbourne Track Classic on Saturday 3rd March.

Although we won't see the 800m world record holder in David Rudisha make his way down to the Domain Athletics Centre (we will have to wait until the Melbourne Track Classic to see him in action over the 2 laps), we do get to see a very interesting field which includes Ryan Gregson, James Kaan, Jordan Williamsz and local star, Ryan Foster. Although most eyes will be on Gregson after his impressive performance in Adelaide recently, Foster will also have his fair share of local support considering he was born in Hobart.

Although some may suggest that it has been a quiet start to the domestic season, there have been some very encouraging results from around Australia. The official Qantas AA Tour commences with the Adelaide Track Classic on the 28th of January, although we have already see AA Tour events in Brisbane and Newcastle.

Put simply she was in a class of her own in the 100m hurdles, and in the process she not only smashed a quality field in Daegu whilst winning gold at the World Championships she also produced the =7th fastest performance of all-time.

There is less than a week to go before 19 Australian athletes take to the track for the 2011 World University Games. A talented team lead by the likes of Lachlan Renshaw, Zoe Buckman and Sean Wroe will try and emulate the performances from the 2009 Games, where Australia took home 5 medals (4 gold and 1 silver) when the Games were held in Belgrade, Serbia.
