Alana Boyd Simply Sensational - 4.76m Australian Record in Perth
Put simply if you want to jump high travel over to Perth and magical things will happen! That was the case again last night as Alana Boyd was simply outstanding in vaulting to a new Australian record of 4.76m.

Expectations were high for some outstanding performances at the Perth Track Classic, especially from the likes of Sally Pearson, Alana Boyd, Lauren Boden and Henry Frayne - and all four delivered. There was also the outstanding performance from junior Nicholas Hough, who produced one of the best track performances of the night with a 20.79s win in the men's 200m. We highlighted Hough as an athlete to keep a close eye out for last night, and Hough simply showed the world that he is on the way up - and also ready to make an impact at the upcoming World Junior Championships in July. We'll come to Hough later on this review, but first of all we take a look at Boyd's Australian All-Comers record.

The weather forecast for Perth is for warm and humid conditions with an expected top of 32 degrees, perfect conditions to finally see some fireworks in the sprint events. One of those sprinters hoping that the forecast equals fast times is 18 year-old sprint sensation Nicholas Hough. We start off our preview of the Perth Track Classic with a detailed look at this junior sprinter, who is well on his way to a berth at this years World Junior Championships which will be held in Barcelona, Spain in July.

Normally there isn't too much excitement at an interclub meeting, but at last nights meeting in Perth there was action aplenty. Only 7 days out from the AA Perth Track Classic, there were fantastic results both on the track and in the field.
