Big Breakthroughs in the United States - Williamsz, McEntee
After such an amazing weekend for our Olympic hopefuls, where we saw Steve Hooker, Ryan Gregson, Dale Stevenson and Chris Erickson all deliver "A" qualifiers for London, it was the turn of our athletes competing in the United States to continue the rush for Olympic selection.
Stevenson had already started the impressive results over in the US, with his massive personal best of 20.63m in the shot put at a meeting in Clemson on Saturday. It improved his PB by 47cm's and was easily above the 'A' standard for London, which is set at 20.50m. This result coupled with the A qualifiers from Hooker, Gregson and Erickson must have sparked both Jordan Williamsz and Sam McEntee into action when they lined up for a 1500m race in Swarthmore, PA on Monday (US Time).

What a great way to conclude the 90th edition of the Australian Championships, a dominant display from one of our up and coming stars of the sport - Steve Solomon.
After such an interrupted start to the 2011/12 domestic season, Solomon has simply gone from strength to strength over the past three months - culminating in his second National 400m title and a new PB of 45.54s. His powerful one lap performance in the final event of the Championships moved Solomon to no.1 on the 2012 World Junior ranking list, and moves the 18 year-old up one spot on the Australian all-time ranking list to 19th.
