The 17 year-old was a sensation at the 2011 World Youth Championships, winning gold and in the process setting a new world youth best of 6491 points.

Laman to Take on the Best of Africa

When Anna Laman and Kaitlyn Simpson line up in the heats of the girls 1500m at the World Youth Championships next week, they will be looking at upsetting the African domination in the event. In 2009 in Sudtirol, Italy it was Kenyan Nelly Chebet who took home the World Youth title in a time of 4.12.76, while in 2007 another Kenyan, Sammary Cherotich, took home World Youth gold - winning in 4.15.47.
